Apra PA is pleased to announce Helen Brown as the keynote speaker of the 2019 chapter conference. Helen will be speaking on international research, including GDPR compliance, resources, and hints on EU/UK-based prospect research.

About Helen Brown:

Helen is the president of The Helen Brown Group LLC, a fundraising intelligence consulting firm based in Watertown, Massachusetts. She is co-author of the book, Prospect Research for Fundraisers; the essential handbook (Wiley). Helen is a past board member and longtime volunteer for both Apra and the New England Development Research Association.

She is Special Advisor on Fundraising to the board of the North American Foundation for the University of Manchester,and a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts & Manufactures (RSA) in London. Helen is a former non-executive director of Factary, a prospect research consulting company in Bristol, England. Helen received the NEDRA Ann Castle Award for service to the prospect research community in 2006 and the Apra Distinguished Service Award in 2017.

Our second presenter is Helen Davis Picher, who will speaking about donor advised funds (DAFs) and trends from that sector. The presentation will focus on how DAFs work for donors and charities. There will be a discussion on philanthropic trends and an introduction to National Philanthropic Trust, as well as time for questions and discussion.

About Helen Davis Picher:

Helen Davis Picher is Associate Vice President of Philanthropic Services, National Philanthropic Trust (NPT). Drawing on many years of experience in managing strategic and effective philanthropy, Ms. Picher leads grantmaking for NPT's UK affiliate, NPT Transatlantic. In both the UK and US, she is responsible for coordinating philanthropic advisory services for donors, and for helping to administer special charitable vehicles such as supporting organizations and collaborative funds. Prior to NPT, Ms. Picher was a philanthropic consultant and worked for 30 years at the William Penn Foundation in Philadelphia, most recently serving as the Foundation's Interim President. She holds a Master's degree in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and a BA in Government and Policy Studies from Dartmouth College.
